Brain Lab Activity

In Class Lab Activity Week of February 25, 2008

Today’s Activity will include a discussion only. You must actively participate in order to receive credit.

You will be assigned a topic, during lab you will research it with your lab partner and present PowerPoint to the class.

Briefly describe the effect on the brain of your specific topic (drugs emotional state and disorders).

1) Include which neurotransmitter is affected.

2) The corresponding structure in the brain.

3) Include how long the drug or neurotransmitter’s effect lasts.

4) Include health hazards and current statistics.

You will be given one of the following topics:

1. Cocaine “Crack”

2. MDMA Ecstasy

3. Club Drugs

4. Steroids

5. Abuse of Prescription Drugs

6. Marijuana

7. Nicotine

8. Depression

9. Dopamine and Love

10. ADHD

11. Caffeine

12. Autism
